Carrie Shepard has worked in the healthcare industry for over 9 years and is currently a Healthcare IT and Quality Manager. She has extensive experience consulting in the healthcare industry and providing valuable solutions to her clients. Carrie provides expert instruction on quality, resource use, compliance, clinical practice improvement, and guidance on various forms of healthcare technology. Carrie has an associate’s degree in medical coding and billing, as well as experience as a medical office manager. Her educational and clinical experience gives her a unique set of skills as a consultant, providing clients with a ‘been there, done that’ perspective. In addition to her degree and professional experience, Carrie has also done coursework in Healthcare Administration, Effective Debt Collection, Human Resources Management and Maximizing Performance in the healthcare sector.
Among many things, as an office manager of a busy dermatology, surgery, and cosmetic practice, Carrie became the lead on implementing electronic medical records as well as guiding the providers and entire office staff through Meaningful Use (MU), Physician Quality and Reporting System (PQRS) and the beginning of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) programs mandated by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In 2017, as the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) went into effect for medical practices, Carrie successfully assisted multiple dermatology practices through the requirements of this new program as a consultant.
Carrie was born and raised in Northern New Jersey. She enjoys the outdoors, tea, reading, and her cats. In her spare time, she does volunteer work through her church and goes hiking.
